Research Interests:

My research focuses on septins, or cytoskeletal proteins which have been implicated in a number of cellular processes, from protein-recruitment to cell-cycle regulation.  I have two major thesis projects: The first involves extracting and purifying septin proteins, in order to conduct in-vitro assays and elucidate their structures.  The second project is utilizing forward genetics techniques, in the model organism Aspergillus nidulans, to identify suppressor mutations in septin deletion strains.  The goal of my research is to expand upon the basic understanding and significance of these proteins in the field of cellular & molecular biology.
