Image: Michelle Momany, Professor of Plant Biology, is featured in a UGA Research article as one of the leading members of the Fungal research community at UGA. UGA has become an international leader in fungal research thanks to its interdisciplinary Fungal Biology Group, where researchers focus on better understanding the biology of fungi and the threats fungal pathogens pose to humans and plants. Michelle Momany's research focuses on a fungus called Aspergillus fumigatus, which can be found in common places like compost piles and leaf litter. Most humans have no issue inhaling the spores, but it can impact those with compromised immune systems. For the full article please see UGA RESEARCH
