Congratulations to Katrien Devos, Distinguished research professor in Plant Biology and her research associates Thomas Pendergast and Peng Qi!  The Devos lab and their collaborators in Kenya were featured in the Science News of the Crop Science Society of America  for their research on finger millet, a critical subsistence crop in Africa and Asia. Their research published in the December 2021 issue of The Plant Genome, will provide finger millet breeders with genetic information that could increase crop yields and reduce the risk of fungal infections for finger millet breeding programs - and ultimately provide an efficient mechanism for increasing finger millet yields as a food crop across eastern Africa and southern Asia.
